Kiwis are continuing their love affair with Utes & SUV’s as sales figures show for 2018. No surprise that the Ford Ranger topped the list again for 2018, making it New Zealand’s number one selling new model vehicle for the last 3 years. The Ranger factor continues in 2019 with the Colorado hot on its heels for 2019.
Utes continue to dominate the vehicle purchases in New Zealand with 5 different makes in the top 10 spots and that trend is similar throughout the world.
Ford, Toyota, Holden, Mitsubishi and Nissan are really taking this part of the market by storm despite the government recent noise about clobbering Utes with a purchase tax.
The other spots see just 2 cars and the rest with 3 SUV’s/Crossovers. While the practical SUV/Crossover vehicles play an important versatile role in our outdoor lifestyle, we also place huge importance on comfort, luxury, safety and reliability.
Here are the Top 10 New Zealand new vehicles sold in 2018 according to the AA’s website:
Leading car manufacturers like Nissan, GM, Ford Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Volkswagen & BMW are set or have already launched electric vehicles to the market with some of those to be in the SUV range, how successful those will be will yet be determined.
